Before registering for the WAH Level 1 certification a candidate must be 18 years of age, be able to climb 5.9 on lead, and lift 50 pounds. The WAH Level 1 course is offered in a blended learning format with online content and the in-person 8-hour assessment of technical skills including ascending, descending, and hauling.

These duties and responsibilities can be executed by a certified WAH Level 1 technician:

  • Can be assigned Work at Height tasks on the front side of the wall
  • Assist in rescue activities 
  • Identify and avoid hazards

You must complete all sections in order:

1. Complete Course Content
2. Attend Mandatory Virtual Call
3. Submit Assignment
4. Complete Final Exam
5. Complete Course Evaluation 
6. Skill-Based Assessment which will be completed by your instructor at a prescheduled date.
7. Schedule and Attend Exit Interview. Must be scheduled with instructor.

  • October 10th Online Course Opens
  • October 20th, 10am-12pm MT - Mandatory virtual discussion
  • October 26th, 8:00am-4:30pm ET - In person assessment at Certification Summit
  • Week of November 2nd Individual exit interview
